Sara was brought to us from the Awatere Valley as a juvenile falcon. She was found on the Ballochdale Estate, by owner’s Gary and Sara Neill.

She was found in very poor condition: underweight, missing all her tail feathers, and with no indication as to what might have happened to her.

It took Sara 12 months of rehabilitation to grow her tail feathers back however, her strength never returned for a full recovery.

Sara joined our breeding program in 2012 and was paired with our resident male Napoleon.

Since 2012 Sara and Napoleon have successfully raised 15 chicks together that have been released into the wild.

Sara was named after Sara Neill from Ballochdale estate who rescued her and brought her to us at the Karearea Falcon trust.
